10 Qs With Seth Rogen

We wanted Seth Rogen to tell us exactly how Zack and Miri make a porno, but just wouldn’t take us seriously.

So, why do Zack and Miri need to make a porno?
“Probably for the same reason most people make porno — money. Yeah, it’s strictly out of a financial situation. They get the idea that porn makes a lot of money in this world — and quick.”

And you need money why?
“We live in Pittsburgh, and it’s the winter, and we have no heat in our apartment.”

We’d guess that getting into porn would change a person.
“It actually helps them with their ambition issues. They find a drive and emotions. And werewolf-ism. I become a werewolf three-quarters of the way through.”

How does one actually prepare for the role of a wannabe porn director?
“Not much. I watch a lot of porn in general. I was set! I grew a beard. That was about it.”

Seth and direct Kevin Smith both love comic books …
“Yeah … It was a pretty nerdy set. High nerd level on that set. There was a pot going every time Jack Kirby’s name came up.”

And apparently nerdy onscreen, as well.
“There’s a passage where I talk about Clerks for like three pages … We make a lot of fun of a lot of movie titles. There’s a nice little Sleeping With the Enemy moment that I enjoyed.”

Good thing he’s a fan of Clerks.
“I saw that when I was pretty young, I guess, and I thought, ‘Wow, you can make a movie where people just talk about blowjobs for 10 minutes straight?’ And that’s what I do now.”

After this porn flick, and his upcoming Green Hornet, he plans to take a break.
“I’ve tried not to set up any more right now, which is such a f–king dIck thing to say. ‘I’m not going to set up any more movies right now.’ But I’m aware of that. You just want to try and just keep doing good stuff, and I feel like that’s hard to do constantly nonstop for years and years on end.”

What will he do during his down time?
“Write a movie. I’m just going to hang out, man, watch some porn, relax.”

You’d think he’s watched enough porn.
“No, not until I’ve seen all of it.”
