Funnyman Ferrell hopes to bounce back from last year’s Land of the Lost misfire by teaming up with Step Brothers and Talladega Nights director McKay for this buddy cop comedy, in which he and Wahlberg play workaday New York City cops who live in the shadow of celebrity detectives Danson (Samuel L. Jackson) and Highsmith (Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson).
What We Think: Kevin Smith’s Cop Out ruined our appetite for buddy cop farces, but The Other Guys’ terrific debut trailer turned us around. They even managed to make Wahlberg funny — and that’s no minor feat..
Cool to Know: Yankees star Derek Jeter enjoys a brief cameo in the film, playing himself.
