Back Room Casting News (April 24, 2010)

Sharlto CopleySharlto Copley is playing a numbers game. The District 9 star was recently said to be in talks to join DreamWorks’ I Am Number Four a film based on the young-adult science fiction book by James Frey and Jobie Hughes. Alex Pettyfer is already cast as Number Four in the film about nine aliens who escape their home planet planet before its annihilation by a rival species and hide out on Earth disguised as high school students. Teresa Palmer has now also joined the cast as Number Six. D.J. Caruso is directing and Michael Bay is producing with Steven Spielberg.

Seth RogenSeth Rogen, whom Forbes this week called “the hardest working actor in Hollywood,” is one of a handful of actors being sought to star opposite Reese Witherspoon in This Means War. It was reported that Rogen, along with Chris Pine, is being considered for a part in the movie about two best friends who see their relationship put to the test when a woman moves into their spare room. McG is attached to direct the project while Will Smith and James Lassiter are producing.

Amanda SeyfriedWarner Bros.’ gothic horror tale Girl With the Red Riding Hood, a new spin on the classic fairy tale, ramped up its casting this week. The Heat Vision blog reported that Shiloh Fernandez will play the male romantic lead for Twilight director Catherine HardwickeAmanda Seyfried had previously been cast as a woman in a medieval village being terrorized by a werewolf. Meanwhile, Max Irons (Jeremy’s son) has joined the pack while veteran British actors Julie Christie and Gary Oldman are also in talks. Leonardo DiCaprio is producing the project.
