Cast: Ryan Reynolds, Jason Bateman and Olivia Wilde

Synopsis: Two lifelong buddies, Mitch (Reynolds) and Dave (Bateman), dream of living each other’s lives — and one day, their dreams become reality. All of a sudden, Dave is living the single-guy life for which he has long lusted, while Mitch is thrust into the stability of marriage he thought he wanted. Our Take: At first glance, there’s not much reason for hope with this one, as “supernatural”-style comedy has an atrocious track record. But the main players behind the camera — Dobkin (Wedding Crashers) and writers Jon Lucas and Scott Moore (The Hangover) — do have good track records, and a somewhat bawdy bromantic comedy, with only glossed-over supernaturalism, could work well for Reynolds and Bateman. Plus, Olivia Wilde’s in it.

Summertime is the right time for actors and directors to essentially audition for a major raise – be it in stature, money or rung on the Hollywood “list.” Whether due to a blockbuster that has already occurred, a surefire blockbuster forthcoming, or simple omnipresence (i.e., Ryan Reynolds … for all three), the so-called stocks of the industry mainstays below have been, or will be, changed by summer 2011.
