A comedy about summer camp in 1981 that includes a laundry list of hilarious actors, like Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler, Elizabeth Banks and Bradley Cooper. Netflix is making a prequel of the film just in time for summer.
4. Moonrise Kingdom
This movie makes us nostalgic for summers as a kid. Ah, young misfit love…
5. Vicky Cristina Barcelona
Two girls, played by Scarlett Johansson and Rebecca Hall, go on summer vacation in Spain and both become enamored with a Spanish artist played by Javier Bardem. If only our European vacations were this romantic.
6. The Notebook
Summers in the South are always better when you have Ryan Gosling to share them with.
7. The Parent Trap
Going to summer camp and discovering your long lost twin? How cool would that be?! This movie is quite possibly Lindsay Lohan at her best.
8. I Know What You Did Last Summer
This horror flick is basically a guide to what not to do on your summer vacation.

It’s not technically about summer the season, but this indie romance gives off a warm, summery vibe.
10. National Lampoon’s Vacation
Nothing spells summer vacation like family road trip. We’ve likely all experienced the joys of this at some point.
11. Summer Catch
Jessica Biel and Freddie Prinze Jr. This movie will fulfill all your early-2000s summer dreams.
12. Blue Crush
Surf’s up! If this beachy Kate Bosworth flick doesn’t put you in the mood for summer, we don’t know what will!
