Lady Gaga’s new album, Born This Way, sold 1.1 million copies in its first week. It is the best first-week of sales for an album since 50 Cent released The Massacre in 2005, which sold 1,141,000 copies. As for the breakdown of how Gaga’s album did so well, it was largely because of how many times it was downloaded: Amazon was selling it for 99 cents on May 23rd (the day it was released), and iTunes was selling it for the discounted price of $11.99. Billboard estimated that even though Amazon only sold the album at 99 cents for two days, it was responsible for the sale of more than 440,000 albums. – Hollywood Gossip
Kim Kardashian has sold her engagement photos for $300,000 to People Magazine. When compared to the fact that her ring is worth $2 million, $300,000 doesn’t seem like that much. Still no word on which charity Kim and Kris didn’t donate the money to. – Perez
Billy Bob Thorton‘s estranged daughter, Amanda Brumfield, has been convicted of aggravated manslaughter in the death of a friend’s baby. In October of 2008, Brumfield claimed that while she was babysitting 1 year-old Olivia Madison Garcia, Garcia died when she fell out of her playpen. Prosecutors argued the fall Brumfield described didn’t explain a three-inch fracture that was found on the baby’s skull, or the bleeding and swelling in her brain. Brumfield will be sentenced in July. – People
