2000 Maxim Motel Party

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 10, 2000 — Bikini Bandits, Midget Kiss Singers, the band The Cult, fire trucks, policemen, people in the streets, total mayhem and Carmen Electra (no Dennis Rodman) — just another night in Los Angeles.

It was all quiet Thursday, but by 8 p.m., stars were turning up for Maxim magazine’s Maxim Motel Party at the Farmer’s Daughter Motor Inn. Twenty-one rooms were occupied with different party pleasures, from tattooing to dancing to a cheese-covered room you could eat … yuck!

“I came out to see all the people and clothes and hairstyles,” gushed Carmen Electra.

She was not disappointed as hundreds of people showed up, so much so that the Los Angeles Fire Department had to come and keep things under control. By 9:30 p.m., the place was out of control, and many stars were left at the entrance. Music producer Hype Williams was seen walking back to his car after being turned away.

“I’m just glad I got in, because I came here to see The Cult or The Cure or one of those bands that begins with a ‘C,'” kidded David Alan Grier.

Also in attendance were Bai Ling, Ashton Kutcher, Garcelle Beauvais, China Chow, Rachael Leigh Cook, Melissa Joan Hart, Soleil Moon Frye, Marilyn Manson, Amanda Peet, Brad Rowe, Jaime Pressly, Ali Landry, Mario Lopez and Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst.
