City by the Sea

The Skinny: Seasoned New York homicide detective Vincent LaMarca (De Niro) is a guarded man who values his solitude. When his estranged son Joey (Franco) becomes a suspect in a murder he’s investigating, the case leads him to his hometown of Long Beach, NY–the “City by the Sea”–where he must come to terms with his painful past.
The Bottom Line: It certainly sounds a tad melodramatic but with a cast like that, you never know, it might work. Just so long as De Niro never says, “I only tried to love you the best way I knew how.”
