Phone Booth
The Players: Colin Farrell, Ron Eldard, Katie Holmes, Ray Liotta, Kiefer Sutherland, Forest Whitaker; directed by Joel Schumacher
The Skinny: A slick, hotshot publicist (Farrell) has the misfortune of picking up a call in a phone booth and is informed by the caller that if he hangs up, he’ll be killed. He believes it–he can see the infrared laser sight pinned right on him.
The Bottom Line: Sounds intriguingly Hitchcockian–or maybe just boring. (Remember Hitch‘s Rope?) Since 2000, among the A-list actors who dropped out of the lead are Will Smith, Jim Carrey and Brad Pitt; one might wonder why.
