“A Knight’s Tale” Premiere

WESTWOOD, Calif., May 8, 2001 — With screaming girls and all, Heath Ledger‘s star vehicle A Knight’s Tale held its Hollywood premiere at the Mann Village Theater Tuesday night in Westwood, Calif.

Accompanied by girlfriend Heather Graham, the lanky Australian actor shook hands and signed autographs for contest winners and teased the paparazzi by refusing to stand still for photos. As an eclectic mix of celebrities arrived, the film’s cast, which included Mark Addy, Alan Tudyk, Shannyn Sossamon and writer/director Brian Helgeland, greeted each other on the red carpet.

A Knight’s Tale is the story of William (Ledger), a squire of humble beginnings who yearns to become a knight. With the help of his friends and a young writer named Geoffrey Chaucer (Paul Bettany), he forges a noble identity in order to compete in the jousting tournament and woos a fair maiden (Sossamon).
