LOS ANGELES, Aug. 22, 2000 — You could hear the chants: “I’m sexy, I’m cute. I’m popular to boot. I’m bitchin’. Great hair. The boys all like to stare.”
No, it wasn’t the runway models for Victoria’s Secret. It was the stars of the movie “Bring It On,” which premiered Tuesday night in Westwood, Calif.
The film stars Kirsten Dunst as the newly-elected team captain of the Rancho Carne High School cheerleading squad, a squad that’s on its way to a possible sixth national championship with a killer routine. Only one problem: It’s stolen.
“This movie is really going to show how competitive and tough a sport cheerleading is,” said director Peyton Reed.
Adds star Gabrielle Union, “I have a newfound respect for those guys.”
The film also stars Jesse Bradford, Eliza Dushku, Nicole Bilderback, Tsianina Joelson, Rini Bell, Huntley Ritter, Natina Reed, Shamari Fears, Brandi Williams, Claire Kramer, Nathan West, Lindsay Sloane, and Bianca Kajlich.
“Bring It On” opens Aug. 25th.
