CosmoGIRL! Exclusive: Angelina Jolie

Read on for an exclusive outtake from CosmoGIRL!

CG!: Lara Croft is a total rebel—and you’ve got
your own wild side…were you always like that?
AJ: In high school, I focused on working. I wanted to
have skills for the outside world, so I dropped away from my friends.
If I WAS with them, we would sit home together cooking dinner or we would
go see a movie. All my activities were related to my growth as a woman.
I didn’t love school, but I loved learning.

CG!: Did you feel like you didn’t fit in?
AJ: I can’t remember when I DIDN’T think that. I figured
everybody else felt the same isolation. I did notice early on that I didn’t
seem content when a lot of other people did. But I really just hated hanging
out. Just doing regular things never felt like enough.

CG!: Well, you’re doing more than enough now: You’re
a Goodwill Ambassador helping refugees, you’re starring in “Lara Croft
Tomb Raider: the Cradle of Life,” AND you’ve got a 2-year-old son, Maddox.
Was he on the movie set with you?
AJ:
Yes, but he kept peeing on my wardrobe, so I had to get an
apron to wear. He’s just a boy, so in between diapers he’d get me.

CG!: That’s adorable! What would you do if Maddox developed
a rebellious streak like yours?
AJ: Part of me would say I wouldn’t want him to do a
lot of things I did growing up. But I think you have to have experiences,
and I know that he will. I just hope he thinks first. Looking back probably
could have hurt me quite a few times. I’d love it if he’d skip that. I
doubt he will, so I just hope he talks with me when he goes through it
so we can work it out.

CG!: Hey, if you ever need a baby-sitter, there are
6 million CosmoGIRL!s who’d love to volunteer!
