American Idol: Top 36 Chosen

Tonight, in a special two-hour episode (aw shucks, no Lie to Me? Darn … ), Hollywood Week’s fourth batch of performances will conclude, and judges Simon, Randy, Kara and Paula will sprinkle “chosen” dust on 36 semifinalists. Fact: You will be stunned. Why? Because you’ll feel like you’ve never even heard so-and-so (or call him “doo-doo” in honor of ousted class president Austin Sisneros) actually sing anything. No spoilers, obviously, but we will mention the following moniker-related hints: 1. Nobody is named David, but 2. Three pairs of contestants share variants of the same name, and 3. A pair of contestants adopt the same nickname. Even without Bikini Girl, tonight is the first of many must-see Idol 8.
