There’s Mark Wahlberg — always wielding a gun. But unlike The Departed and Four Brothers (and Shooter and We Own the Night and … ), this one, about a vengeance-seeking detective whose personal and work families have been murdered, is part noir, part videogame. Noir because it echoes the hard-boiled L.A. Confidential but also the grimy, stylized feel of Sin City. And videogame because, well, it’s based after the 2001 third-person shooter of the same name. Also toting pistols, Ludacris and Mila Kunis aid the trench-coated crusader in Wahlberg, fueling his gone-bananas license to kill. And get ready to cast your early judgments on the new Bond Girl, Olga Kurylenko, too.
