Typically, the big winners of the Golden Globes go on to be nominated and very likely win Oscars.
Viewed as the last hurdle for heavyweights to overcome before the Academy Awards, the Globes are not a foolproof gauge, but they are a good forecaster. The fact the Hollywood Foreign Press Association nominates in two categories (drama and musical or comedy), gives those contenders a greater chance for exposure–and certainly if an Oscar hopeful doesn’t even get an Golden Globe nomination, it, he or she is pretty much dead in the water.
With this glance at each category’s winners over the last three years, see how the Globe-o-Meter ranks in Oscars’ eyes.
