Why We Loved It So Much: Pictures of the former O.C. star rolling out of clubs, bars, parties, airports, restaurants, everywhere, looking all kinds of haggard — totally one of our guiltiest trash-mag paparazzi pleasures. For awhile.
Now, Not So Much: Like Tara Reid‘s epic run of bad publicity that culminated in her oblivious boob-slip red-carpet peep show in ’04, the omnipresent shots of Mischa Barton looking tired, under the influence, or maybe just sad, eventually made us feel less titillated and more concerned for her well-being. The girl looked roughhh. Turns out, the suspicions were justified. Barton called the LAPD on Wednesday afternoon because of a “personal issue.” She was then hospitalized for said “personal issues” and is currently under involuntary psychiatric hold at Los Angeles’ Cedars Sinai Medical Center (the same hospital that Miss Britney Spears was brought to for her psyhciatric evaluation).
A friend of Barton’s told People: “I don’t know that she ever really gave up some of the bad habits that had gotten out of control a few years ago.”
No word to what exactly these bad habits might be, but Barton was arrested for a DUI in 2007 and confessed she had been smoking marijuana before getting pulled over. And she dated Cisco Adler.
Whatever personal issues Mischa’s dealing with, it seems (at least for the moment) snapshots of the girl looking like Pete Doherty = totally Dunzo.
