Did you know Eddie Murphy used to be in a band? Us neither! But it’s true! He went on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and talked about his old band, EMMK. So stop wailing on your brother for skipping school to stay in the garage and play the gui-TAR with his friends, because someday…he could be sitting next to Leno and talking about how obnoxious you were. There. I just saved you some humiliation, and maybe even helped set you up in a mansion.
Brian Williams stopped by the “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” set and helped Fallon “Slow Jam the News.” It’s funny, because Brian Williams usually does the news in a regular jam. But it check it out – homeboy does a mean slow jam too!
Jerry Seinfeld talked to Jimmy Fallon about why he could never host a late night talk show, and then paid him the biggest compliment ever when he said Fallon was “better [than him] at everything social.” But before they got to that, Jerry pointed out SOMETHING I’VE BEEN THINKING since Fallon took over for Conan – and it’s how that blue suede chair is too weird. It looks like a mirage – rigid, but unpredictable like an underfed tiger! And you can’t really tell how your body’s supposed to be in it. (As in – will my tuchus slide off of it? Will my spine slink back? Will I sit like my airplane seat is collapsing in on itself?) So kudos to Jerry for settling that issue for me, and hopefully (though doubtfully) for you too.
Russell Brand told David Letterman something he probably already knew, which is living with the Marines for 48 hours is “quite difficult.” Letterman pointed out Brand could’ve just observed them from afar, but he said that wouldn’t have been good enough. And surely, I can’t be the only one who thinks Katy Perry has transformed Brand into the Jane Goodall of the Marines.
Also worthy of your attention: Justin Bieber — who the music dj at your gym is overdosing on right now — was nominated for a BET award. (Doesn’t matter which.) Unsure of how he was to respond, Jimmy Kimmel went into the heart of South Central Chicago and asked what people thought of honoring a kid so white. He’s doing God’s work, that Kimmel. Justin Bieber…not so much.
