‘Four Brothers’ Cast and Crew Interviews

Director John Singleton’s new film Four Brothers is a hard-edged revenge fantasy featuring Mark Wahlberg, Tyrese Gibson, Andre Benjamin and Garrett Hedlund as a quartet of tough-as-nails foster siblings who set out on a path of vengeance when their adoptive mother is murdered. But as rough as things get on screen, nothing compares to the stinging salvo of smart-aleck insults the stars launched against each other and their director as they built their brotherly bonds during filming.

Join Hollywood.com as the testosterone-laden cast (and their distaff co-star, va-va-voom vixen Sofia Vergara) reveal why Mark Wahlberg has an endless array of huge-head jokes, and just why their boss became known as “John Wrinkleton.”

Mark Wahlberg and Tyrese Gibson in Four Brothers
Mark Wahlberg and Tyrese Gibson on their “brotherly” rapport:
Wahlberg: “The whole movie, yeah, it was non stop. It was remarkable that we actually got to shoot some stuff, and still be able to tell the story. Of these guys trying to avenge their mother’s death, as opposed to trying to one up each other.”
Gibson: “Yeah, it was stupid on the set, you know, but that’s what it is, that’s what it’s supposed to be, you know, you get around four guys, and they gotta be around each other freezing like hell out there in Canada, you gotta have some kind of good energy going to get through it, and get past all of the reality of that…” (Get full story)

Cast of Four Brothers
Garrett Hedlund and Andre Benjamin on their “brotherly” rapport:
Benjamin: “We always got on [Garrett’s] hair size. Because he had this hairdo, you know? He’d come out of the trailer in the morning with this big bouffant, type thing. So we always got him about that. They got on my clothes–they said it was too tight. Actually the line in the movie about my teeth–That was made up. After that day, I just knew…I said ‘Well, Tyrese, for the rest of my life, people are gonna talk about my teeth because of that line.'”
Hedlund: “Let’s face it, these guys–you see how much they sort of taunt [my character] when he does speak, and so he sort of goes in a world on his own, sort of sits back. He kind of separates himself from the bunch.” (Get full story)

Mark Wahlberg and Sofia Vergara in Four Brothers
Sofia Vergara on keeping up with the Brothers
Vergara: “I had to scream and get crazy! [Laughs]…I became one of them and they ignored me…It was fun for me. I had the opportunity to curse in Spanish. Yes. It came very natural to me…” (Get full story)

Four Brothers opens in theaters Aug. 12.
