You Know This Face Because: Berkeley-born Taccone, along with childhood friends Andy Samberg and Akiva Schaffer, is one third of the ridiculously awesome Lonely Island team responsible for Saturday Night Live’s digital shorts. (Taccone was the dude who got bumped for T-Pain in “I’m on a Boat.”) Love “Dick in a Box?” Natalie Portman’s rap? Thank Taccone.
Why So Fresh? “Multi-talented” does little justice to describe Taccone’s skills. The UCLA Film School graduate is a comedic Renaissance Man: He’s a writer and music supervisor for SNL and has acted on the show, plus in flicks like Hot Rod. He’s also produced programs including The Late Show With David Letterman. Not bad for a 32-year-old guy that wasn’t allowed to watch TV as a kid.
In His Own Words: Taccone learned the entire language, roughly 300 words, of Pakuni, the dialect created for the cavemen in the original 1970s Land of the Lost TV series. Taccone tells the San Francisco Chronicle: “I would go back to the Pakuni dictionary and make up sentences that go with (co-star Anna Friel’s), translation. What Anna translates is much more eloquent than what I am saying. But I am definitely trying to speak it correctly.”
Why We Love Him: Have you seen “Dick in a Box?” “Mother Lover?” And “Lazy Sunday” didn’t hurt either.
What’s Next: Taccone continues with all things SNL and Lonely Island. The group plans to tour behind its album Incredibad (their first live performance was on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon in May).
