Who dressed to impress on the Red Carpet this year? Who should never have left home?

Our reviewers take a closer look at the threads the stars wore to the 73rd Annual Academy Awards – with a very gender-specific take on the looks of the night.

Hollywood.com: Let’s start with the bests – we’ll get to the worsts shortly.

Liv Maxwell: Laura Linney looked stunning in red. Very classic. Halle Berry also knocked them dead. Whoa.

Jay Beam: Renee Zellweger was surprisingly hot in that yellow number, and Jennifer Lopez‘ dress was terrifically see-through. Good to see she still considers herself the slut of award shows.

Hollywood.com: Anyone the front-runner in the worsts category?

Maxwell: What do you think went through Bjork‘s mind when she got dressed on Sunday? A swan? But she dares to be different.

Beam: Kate Hudson was the most disappointing to me. With Bjork, you expect something nutty. But with Hudson, that silver monstrosity and crow’s nest hair took me by surprise.

Hollywood.com: We tend to focus on women’s fashion, but did any of the men stand out?

Maxwell: How much can you do with a tux? They all looked pretty good to me. Tom Cruise was especially yummy.

Beam: Anybody see David Carradine in his gold tux? Now that’s tacky. I was worried he was going to try to sell someone a used car.

Hollywood.com: It’s always interesting to see the fashion sense of the spouses of celebs. Did any of them catch your eye?

Maxwell: Chow Yun-Fat‘s wife looked masculine in a tux. Incredibly banal Joan Rivers actually thought the wife was Chow Yun-Fat.

Beam: I especially liked the outfit worn by Chris Robinson, Kate Hudson‘s hubby. He looked like an undertaker. It totally reflected his attitude toward Hollywood: complete and utter indifference.
