April 13, 2001 — Remember the Jem rock ‘n’ roll doll of the ’80s? “She’s truly outrageous!” Well the original Josie and her band played up the female rock icon thing back in the day when it was cool to be a female rock icon. Nowadays, when angry chic rock is in vogue, it’s funny to see how Josie and the Pussycats kept growing–from comic books to television to film and now to a slick soundtrack CD.

Unfortunately, the soundtrack CD won’t be a big hit with the hard-core Josie fans, or angry chick rock fans, either. The music is pre-fabricated rock material–an over-processed, sugarcoated mix of songs about lost boyfriends and shopping.
Best Time to Listen: Age 15. Getting ready for an all-girls night on the town.
