We recently caught up with super-personal-stylist-to-the-stars Rachel Zoe, the woman who radically transformed Nicole Richie‘s trashy, airhead-heiress togs into her more sleek, sophisticated and stylish look (“I love her,” says Rachel. “We talk every day.”). Rachel Zoe gave Hollywood.com her quick scoop on what to expect from this season’s red carpet runway.
Who are you going to be styling for the Golden Globes this year?
Rachel Zoe: Jennifer Garner, Mischa Barton and Portia de Rossi.
Have you made all the decisions, or are they still works in progress?
You know what? As of about 20 minutes ago, everyone’s finalized.
What fashion trends are you seeing this year?
Simplicity. Glamour. A subtle sexiness.
How about color?
Strong colors. A combination–still quite glamorous.
Not a return to basic black?
On my girls, probably not. But I think you will see a lot of black this season.
What type of jewelry styles can we expect?
I think were going to see a lot of colored stones in the jewelry. I also think that we’ve said goodbye to the chandelier earring, obviously, and it will be more about a little bit of a subtle earring, but a lot [of focus] on the necklace.
Any designer trends you’ve spotted?
I think it’s going to be a classic awards season: you’ll see the European designers, and I think you’ll see more downtown designers, like a Marc Jacobs or a Chloe.
Is there a great breakout designer this year?
I want to say Monique Lhullier. I don’t know if we still consider her a breakout, but I do think her presence is going to become more [prominent] in the coming year.
