“Ransom” Premiere

LOS ANGELES – The Hollywood elite did not have to be kidnapped for the “Ransom” premiere on Friday, Nov. 1. Instead, they turned out of their own accord for the long-awaited thriller starring Mel Gibson and Rene Russo.

Touchstone Pictures screened the film at the Los Angeles landmark of 1920s grandeur, the Westwood Village Theater. “Ransom,” which opens Nov. 8, follows the ordeal of millionaires Tom Mullen (Mel Gibson) and Kate Mullen (Rene Russo) when their only son is kidnapped.

Mel Gibson looked like a million bucks himself in his conservative black suit and elegantly muted silver medallion tie. Rene Russo also took a businesslike approach with her chocolate brown pinstriped suit and cream blouse.

Gary Sinise, sinister as cop Jimmy Shaker in the film, looked much more wholesome in person with his casual jacket over a denim blue shirt. Donnie Wahlberg, the brother of pop star Marky Mark Wahlberg, kept his tough-guy persona intact with his sumptuous black leather jacket and goatee.
