Rudd (I Love You, Man) stars in this comedy from Austin Powers and Meet the Parents director Roach as a fast-rising executive whose boss (Bruce Greenwood) hosts a monthly event called The Dinner for Extraordinary People, a contest in which each attendee is charged with bringing the most eccentric person they can find. He thinks he’s hit the jackpot when he meets Barry (Carell), a man whose hobbies include building dioramas with petrified mice.
What We Think: We’re not ready to write off Carell’s movie career yet, despite his recent Date Night stumble. And who doesn’t love Paul Rudd? Seriously, tell us. We’ll have them hunted down and beaten immediately.
Cool to Know: Dinner for Schmucks is actually a remake of the 1998 French film Le diner de cons. We won’t hold that against it.
