An unlikely mix of actors fill the shoes of the popular heroes-for-hire from the ‘80s, and Carnahan (Smokin’ Aces) supplies them with an updated premise that brings the highly-trained mercenaries home from Iraq to find that they’ve been framed for a crime they didn’t commit. Cue theme song, one-liners, and explosions. Roll credits.
What We Think: Carnahan is a great match for this kind of adrenaline-pumping, testosterone-fueled material, but we’d rather have seen producer Tony Scott (Man on Fire) have a go at directing the reboot. Leave your brain at home and enjoy a likable bunch of guys blowing a ton of stuff up.
Cool to Know: Three rappers-turned-actors (Common, Ice Cube, and The Game) were considered to play B.A. Baracus before producers opted to cast MMA fighter Quinton “Rampage” Jackson in the role made famous by Mr. T.
