“Sweet Novemeber” Soundtrack Review

March 1, 2001
— Geared toward softhearted romantics and female fans, the Sweet November soundtrack is a stellar addition to any collection of melodramatic albums. Ballads and soft rock tunes by newcomers and veterans heavily contribute to the overall mood.

Amanda Ghost easily impresses with her ardent guitar strumming in “Cellophane,” and Paula Cole pairs up with Dolly Parton to make a super-sweet duo in “Heart Door.” Also listen for the ethereal sounds of Enya on “Only Time.”

Stevie Nicks offers up “Touched By An Angel,” a song she recorded years ago but never released, and k.d. lang performs the imaginative “The Consequences Of Falling,” maybe her best tune since “Constant Craving.”

Although this is a chick-flick, the soundtrack features a healthy helping of male performers as well. Singer BT shakes things up with “Shame,” and the always eccentric Bare Naked Ladies actually tone things down with their piano-heavy melody “Off The Hook.” Bobby Darin and Jackie Wilson also add some fancy flavor to this sweet compilation.
