DANNY & MARTY TO REUNITE … MAYBE
I was wondering when Daniel Day-Lewis and Martin Scorsese might work together again. Scorsese is circling the film Silence, and Variety reports he’s in talks with his old Gangs of New York buddy to star, along with Benicio Del Toro. Based on a Japanese novel, Day-Lewis and Del Toro would play 17th-century Jesuit priests sent to Japan to locate their mentor and to spread the gospel of Christianity, facing much violence and persecution along the way. Hmm, sounds a bit like The Mission, but I do smell a certain Oscar odor.

Grey’s Anatomy‘s ghostly hunk Jeffrey Dean Morgan, also the upcoming Watchmen‘s the Comedain, is set to star with Hilary Swank in The Resident. The story centers on a young doctor (Swank) who moves into a loft in Brooklyn where mysterious occurrences lead her to suspect that she is not home alone. In fact, her seemingly charming landlord (Morgan) has developed a dangerous obsession with her, resulting in a terrifying game of cat and mouse. AN A-TEAM MOVIE? SERIOUSLY?
It’s just seems wrong to turn such a cheesy TV show like The A-Team into a feature film. But, alas, Fox is moving full speed ahead with the idea, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The TV show followed the adventures of a group of U.S. Army Special Forces, led by George Peppard, who are on the run for a crime they didn’t commit. It became a pop cultural phenomenon and made a star out of Mr. T, who played B.A. (“Bad Attitude”) Baracus, the team’s surly muscle. You just know the guy is already begging for a part. The film’s only saving grace might be if Smokin’ Aces director Joe Carnahan, who is in negotiations to helm, gets the job.

GRAVEYARD COMES TO LIFE
This one intrigues me. Neil Gaiman’s (pictured) newly minted Newberry Award-winning book The Graveyard Book got snatched up for the big screen, with Neil Jordan being tapped to direct, according to CHUD.com. The story is a rather skewed spin on the classic The Jungle Book, in which a young boy escapes from his crib one night and wanders into a graveyard — and on that same night, his entire family is wiped out by an assassin named Jack. The young child is taken in by some kindly ghosts who christen him Nobody and protect him from the dangers of the outside, living world. Know who else could make this? Tim Burton.

A TOMB RAIDER REDO?
The popular videogame about the curvaceous daredevil archaeologist Lara Croft and her global artifact-finding missions may get a new life on the big screen. Of course, Angelina Jolie already embodied Croft in two Paramount movies, but the rights have since reverted to Eidos, the London-based videogame company that created the game. When Time Warner upped its stake in Eidos to 19.92 percent in December, films rights to the property were included as part of the deal — and Warner’s took over, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The new project is expected to revamp the character and her mission — and bears little resemblance to the original pictures. It will re-imagine the origins of the character, add a love interest and a villain. Can’t imagine anyone else playing Croft, though.

MORE ON BRENDAN FRASER …
A few weeks ago, I reported Brendan Fraser was going to do more serious work in a medical drama, starring with Harrison Ford. But somehow he can’t quite help himself. Variety reports he has just signed to star in yet another family-friendly flick, Furry Vengeance, as a land developer whose new subdivision encroaches on a band of angry critters out in the wilds of Oregon. Sigh.
