Thursday: ‘Home Alone 2: Lost in New York’

[IMG:L]Home Alone 2: Lost in New York — 8/7c on Encore

There isn’t one new non-reality show tonight thanks to the strike, which has made its presence known this week more than ever (and it’s only the beginning).

But, hey, major score for cable TV (and maybe books)!

Almost every night until God-knows-when, your TV options are as follows: movie, rerun, or reality. OK, so it’s not exactly the Apocalypse, but in its context this strike does royally stink for TV watchers.

Tonight, for those not interested in a new Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?, it’s a movie night.

And what better time to revisit a quasi-modern-day Christmas classic than five nights before the holiday and right after a barrage of gag-inducing specials?

Chris Columbus’ ginormous Home Alone 2 finds Macaulay Culkin on the run from Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern (remember them?) when he’s not living it up in NYC on his dad’s (John Heard) credit card. It also finds Culkin looking pretty much the same as he does today.

For anybody willing to sit through the commercials and the Jim Carrey-ness, Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas also airs tonight, at 8/7c on ABC Family.
