Come on down
It’s two weeks before Lilly and Marshall’s wedding on How I Met Your Mother and the couple decides to spend it apart–hoping to make their wedding night special. While Lilly is at Robin’s, Ted practices his Best Man speech. For some reason, Marshall isn’t too keen on him talking about criminal records or “motor mouthing”–all of the things that make up a hilarious wedding toast. After realizing her wedding dress doesn’t fit, Lilly needs to put on a couple of pounds. So she eats everything in sight–a dream diet for any bride. Meanwhile, Barney is training to run down contestant row on the Price is Right. After his mom told him Bob Barker is his father, Barney makes it his mission to win the Showcase Showdown and tell Bob that he’s his dad. But Barney chickens out after his win and instead congratulates him on 35 wonderful years. They have been wonderful Bob!
Team playground
It’s down to six girls on The Bachelor: Officer and a Gentleman. Andy takes the remaining girls on ABC’s yacht for some fun and sun. Bevin breaks up the group date once again by taking Andy kayaking and then some groping. It’s not as awkward though as watching Tina pick food from Andy’s teeth. Everyone could have done without witnessing that–probably even Andy. Stephanie is chosen to go on a one-on-one date with Andy. He keeps pressing her for answers on deeper issues than wine flavors and she gives him NOTHING. Meanwhile, Bevin, Amber, Danielle and Tina help prepare a playground for an elementary school and surprisingly no one stirs up any trouble. Tessa is also chosen to go on a one-on-one date with Andy. He picks her up with $2 million worth of diamonds. The other girls were a little peeved. The diamonds look out of place with Tessa’s casual jeans and tube top so Andy takes her to a high-end boutique to pick out a dress. Back at the house, Bevin has a sit down with Amber to discuss her age and why she entered the competition in the first place. She can’t believe that a 23-year-old would be ready for marriage. The rose ceremony was filled with tears and pleading as the girls begin to realize it’s getting down to the wire. But alas, the wedding bells won’t ring for Stephanie and Tina. Andy sent them packing.
Supple lips
The contestants rocked out to Bon Jovi hits on this week’s American Idol. The pressure is on since two contestants will be sent home this week. Jordin had her first bad performance of the entire competition after singing “Livin’ on a Prayer.” She knew the song was too big for her but hey, at least she gave it a shot. Things got REALLY awkward after Lakisha’s performance. Simon jokingly said he could kiss her afterwards because it was so good–and kiss her he did. After a few disappointing song choices, it was nice to have the old Lakisha back. But hands down, the best performance of the evening goes to Blake. He put a completely different spin on “You Give Love a Bad Name.” He beat boxed his heart of to the song. It was the riskiest thing I’ve ever seen on the show and he pulled it off beautifully. The remaining six contestants were split into groups of three on results night. The first group was Melinda, Phil and Lakisha. Hmm…who do you think went home out of those three? That’s right, Phil. The remaining group was Blake, Chris and Jordin. Again, it’s not rocket science. Chris was sent home.
Safe word: foliage
After a man in the parking lot flashes Phyllis, Michael takes The Office women out to show his appreciation for them. Since the ladies won’t talk to Michael about pap smears (or is it schmears?), he brings up the topic of role-playing. Turns out Jan has a schoolgirl fantasy where Michael wears the uniform. He also admits he’s not really happy being with her. Sensing his unhappiness, the girls encourage him to break up with her. Meanwhile, Dwight and Andy go looking for the flasher. He even hangs up a sketch that Pam drew around town. Coincidentally, the sketch looks exactly like Dwight–minus the glasses. When the ladies get back to the office, Michael breaks up with Jane–on her voicemail. Too bad Jane shows up at the office mid-message. Jan listens to the voicemail and storms out of the office. The crew never did catch the perv, but Kevin got to live out his fantasy of going into the women’s restroom while the office was devoid of female employees.
Revenge is bittersweet
On Lost, John makes an appearance at the camp after he ran off with The Others. He’s not there for a picnic on the beach though. He seeks out Sawyer to kill his father since he doesn’t have the courage to do it himself. But why Sawyer? Why would be want to kill someone he never met? It’s too late
Elliot accepts Keith’s wedding proposal on Scrubs but takes it back when the ring doesn’t fit. He promises to get it re-sized and says she is welcome to plan her own proposal in the interim. After word gets out about the upcoming event, the whole hospital acts sympathetic towards J.D., thinking he must upset over losing Elliot for good. Even though they haven’t been together in years, they always had a thing for one another. He insists they’re all crazy and tries to get with her friend Melanie instead. It isn’t until after Keith’s “spontaneous proposal” that J.D. realizes that is should have been him all along. But those who have watched this show from the beginning know that J.D. and Elliot make a horrible couple. J.D., it’s time to let her go. Turk, meanwhile, is having trouble accepting the fact Carla hasn’t wanted to have sex since the baby was born.
L.A. versus Seattle
We got a taste of the upcoming Grey’s Anatomy spin-off on this week’s two-hour episode. Addison takes a leave of absence to visit her friend–Naomi–in L.A. who is a fertility specialist at a well-known practice. Yep, Addison wants a baby. Unfortunately, she’s too late. She is unable to conceive a child. We are introduced to a series of new characters, but I don’t want to get into their back-stories until the spin-off airs–if it ever does. Back in Seattle, the wedding plans continue with the help of Christina and Burke’s mom. No one has come forward yet to claim Jane Doe and she undergoes a surgery to fix bleeding in her brain. Also, Meredith’s father’s wife comes into the ER after she can’t stop hiccupping. They do a routine procedure on her that leads to some serious complications–so serious that they are unable to save her. She was the only thing that kept Meredith and her estranged father connected. He is so distraught over the news that he slaps her across the face. Meanwhile, George and Izzie share a tense elevator ride that ends up in another round of kissing. After such an awful day, there really isn’t anything left to do except drink some tequila. Shots all around.
Fast Forward
On the season finale of Grey’s Anatomy, the wedding day has arrived for Christina and Burke and the hospital finally chooses a new hospital Chief. Could that be Burke’s wedding gift? Dwight is left in charge of The Office while Michael, Karen and Jim vie for an opening at the corporate headquarters in New York. On Lost, Sayid figures out a way to outsmart The Others, which will hopefully lead to a rescue. And on the season finale of Scrubs, Kim — J.D.’s pregnant ex-girlfriend is back and J.D. gets used to the idea of being a father.
