Winter Movie Guide 2002: “Evelyn”

The Players: Pierce Brosnan, Aidan Quinn, Julianna Margulies, Stephen Rea; directed by Bruce Beresford (Double Jeopardy, Driving Miss Daisy)

The Skinny: When a philandering woman leaves her husband, Doyle (Brosnan), and their three children, the courts determine the kids should be put into Irish Catholic Church orphanages until Doyle can afford to care for them.

The Bottom Line: Sure sounds like a three- to four-hankie tearjerker but if done correctly, could be an enjoyable experience.
