Female musicians are receiving increasing recognition from the music industry these days–and they’re not doing too badly on the big screen, either. With fame, beauty, record deals, musical talent and impressive album sales under their belts, an elite list of hot women artists are testing the waters in Hollywood.
Ever since Britney Spears made her cameo appearance in Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, up-and-coming female musicians have been doing what they do best: following her lead. Jewel, Michelle Branch, Avril Lavigne, Gwen Stefani, Mandy Moore, Pinkand others are all inching their way toward Hollywood stardom.
Established musicians/actors Madonna, LeAnn Rimes, Jennifer Lopez and The Donnas are making their mark with recent career moves. Madonna has a new single called “Hollywood”; Rimes‘ current “We Can” is the title song for the Reese Witherspoon flick, “Legally Blonde 2: Red, White, and Blonde.” Lopez just released the film Gigli, in which she costars with her latest boy toy, Ben Affleck, and The Donnas just took a break from Lollapalooza to shoot the video for their new single on the set of Grind, due out August 15.
