One Direction’s 3D Concert Movie: Not for Overprotective Mothers — TRAILER

One Direction 3D Concert Movie - Teacups

Every concert movie — a phenomenon that is growing more rapidly than  — needs its pathos.

Justin Bieber had his rags-to-riches story. Katy Perry had her “Believe in yourself!” motif. And in their forthcoming addition to the genre, One Direction seems to be vying for every trick in the book. The new trailer for the band’s 3D concert film, which hits theaters this summer, packs on the usual “aww” moments you’d find in superstar documentaries: the overwhelming fandom the group has endured since their breakout, the steady devotion to one another that has formed overtime, and — here’s the kicker — their sobbing mothers.

The below video pads the high notes in One Direction’s flight to fame with sentimental bits about leaving behind their old lives. While Niall, Zayn, Malik, Harry, and Louis’ world tours might be celebrated by many, they are large purveyors of grief to the young men’s families. Clips of the band members’ moms lamenting the extended absences of their celebrity sons will make any doting parent tear up, so be warned.  But all you emotionally detached children out there should be just fine.

Check out the new trailer for One Direction’s 3D movie, releasing Aug. 30.
