Q&A with Adrian Grenier: Does He Compare to Vince on ‘Entourage’?

[IMG:L]Entourage’s resident pretty-boy-with-artistic-aspirations–both on screen and off–talks about living the dream, going green and his addiction to the Big Apple, no matter how “Hollywood” he gets.

Hollywood.com: Now that The Sopranos is gone, is HBO depending on you guys more?
Adrian Grenier:
You know what? I don’t really worry about the business aspect of this business. I just try to do my job and do the best I can.

HW: What were your thoughts on this season?
AG:
I’m actually watching it with everybody else, and I haven’t been watching the rough cuts at all. So, it was very exciting to be a part of the ride. And you know we shot these episodes so long ago so they’re almost fresh. They are fresh for me.

HW: Do you have Entourage-viewing parties?
AG:
Well, you know my roommates and I have friends who watch the show, so we sometimes will watch it together. And I get to tell them little back stories and behind the scenes stuff.

HW: How do you feel about the direction the stories have been going this season?
AG:
I love it. I think that for the first time we see these boys becoming men. And they’re stumbling and falling and often awkward in their growth period. But I can’t wait to see what greatness comes.

HW: Are you able to contribute your own crazy Hollywood stories to the producers?
AG:
[Laughs] It’s a daily download.

HW: You play a relatively noble character – when you look at people in Hollywood, how many times do you see an actor like your character?
AG:
Every time I look in the mirror [Laughs].

[IMG:R]HW: What do you see?
AG:
I see a lot of good people, actors or artists around more and more everyday. I mean as our global situation becomes more dire, I think people try to step up and really try to speak from the heart. So I think they’re out there.

HW: Do you share any passions with Vince?
AG:
We don’t always have the same tastes. But ultimately his tastes triumphs on the screen.

HW: How would Vince handle failure?
AG:
With a smile, of course. I mean, if you think back to the pilot episode, I think it was, when he was getting trashed. Was it the pilot? He was getting trashed by the critics for his role in Queens Boulevard and he laughed it off. And that’s the right attitude.

HW: How do you handle getting swarmed by women?
AG:
It’s been nice, but sometimes you just have to say no.

HW: Why do you choose to live in New York?
AG:
Why? I’m addicted. I grew up there. I’m like a crack baby for New York. [Laughs]

HW: You directed and produced the documentary A Shot in the Dark about the search for your father. What was that experience like for you?
AG:
It was a learning experience. Trying to get somebody who can afford it to finance it, because you’ll end up eating a lot of ramen noodles.

HW: Are you planning on producing anything in the future?
AG:
I haven’t actually learned my lessons. I’m making the same mistake again, as we speak. I’m financing another documentary that I’ve actually just started.

HW: What’s that about?
AG:
Top secret–for now.

[IMG:L]HW: The rest of the cast and crew said you’ve lead the way on convincing them to lead greener lifestyles – what are your tips?
AG:
I try to eat free range organic foods. I try and walk if I can, which is why I love New York. Take a train. My home is a green home. I try and turn off the lights as much as possible. I unplug all of my appliances. Use the eco friendly light bulbs. To me I look at it as an investment and the things may cost a little bit more but ultimately it pays for itself. People invest in all sorts of bizarre things. Why not invest in the quality of life?
