In a fight between U2, Lady Gaga, Adele, and Taylor Swift, you probably wouldn’t expect the country crossover star to come out on top. However, when it comes to music sales Swift was unstoppable in 2011. The 22-year-old tops Billboard’s annual list of music’s biggest money makers, beating out all of the aforementioned acts.
Swift made an estimated $35 million last year between sales of her concert tickets, singles, and albums. That figure doesn’t even take into account Swift’s income from endorsement deals and the release of her new perfume Wonderstruck. The singer/songwriter shows no sign of slowing down in 2012. Her Speak Now tour continues this year, and she’s just released “Safe and Sound,” her single from the Hunger Games soundtrack.
