In our current political climate, it seems like every day gifts us with a new and beautiful surprise about the Trump family. Just when we think it can’t get any worse, Donald Trump says you should grab any woman you want by the p*ssy. When we’re sure that’s as bad as it’s going to get, two women come forward and sue the presidential candidate for sexual harassment. Now we’re learning that Trump’s dismissive views on sexual harassment are also shared with his son, Donald Trump Jr.
Apparently, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. In a 2013 radio interview with The Opie and Anthony Show, Donald Trump Jr. completely dismissed workplace sexual harassment by saying that women who can’t handle it should become kindergarten teachers — or worse, not work at all. That’s right! If you don’t want to be sexually harassed, you should go back to the kitchen where you belong.
The conversation was sparked when Trump Jr. admitted he missed all-male golf courses because men don’t have to watch what they say. A host interjected saying that women “complain, ‘it’s harassment’ — that’s why we hate having them around. They stop us from doing what we want to do.”
Trump Jr. agreed.
“I’m of that mindset — and I’ll get into trouble, I’m sure I’ll get myself in trouble one of these days,” he said. “If you can’t handle some of the basic stuff that’s become a problem in the workforce today, then you don’t belong in the workforce. Like, you should go maybe teach kindergarten. I think it’s a respectable position.
“You can’t be negotiating billion-dollar deals if you can’t handle, like, you know,” Trump said, without elaborating. “But listen — there’s a place where you have to draw the line — but today the stuff you get in trouble for, I wouldn’t even think about…”
The host then joked about how it’d be weird if they put, say, naked pictures of women on their computer desktops and Trump Jr. sued them because he felt uncomfortable during his interview. He replied back, further dismissing women’s sexual harassment claims.
“I’d feel harassed!” he said. “This is my get-rich-quick scheme. I’m now suing you guys because I feel uncomfortable. And by the way, that’s what happens in the world. I can play along, I can be fine, and then I can decide randomly — ‘Uh oh, you now have crossed the line, even though I’ve been going with it.’”
This is just so disgusting we’re gagging. If there ever was a statement that read “white dude with a trust fund,” it’d be this entire interview. Yes, women can just decide that the obnoxious, offensive things you say to them aren’t funny. Here’s an idea — how about instead of criticizing women over not tolerating your sexist, inappropriate behavior, you just stop harassing them.
Nah, you’re good? Yeah, we thought so.
Gross. Gross. Gross. You can listen to the full interview on BuzzFeed News.
