After years of speculation, Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are officially returning for The Mummy 4, reigniting one of Hollywood’s most beloved adventure franchises. Brendan Fraser first brought explorer Rick O’Connell to life in the 1999 classic The Mummy, a thrilling mix of action, humor, and supernatural spectacle that turned him into a global star. Rachel Weisz, who played the brilliant Egyptologist Evelyn Carnahan, starred alongside him in the first two installments before sitting out 2008’s The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. Now, nearly two decades later, the duo will reunite for another globe-trotting adventure.

The Mummy 4: Brendan Fraser Returns

Plot details for The Mummy 4 remain tightly under wraps, but fans can expect the new film to return to the series’ roots — balancing heart-pounding action with the fun, adventurous tone that defined the originals. Universal Pictures, the studio behind the franchise, has not yet announced a release date.

Fraser’s return comes after his Oscar-winning comeback in The Whale, marking a full-circle moment for the actor who once defined the 2000s action genre. In earlier interviews, Fraser expressed interest in reprising his role if “the right conceit” came along — and with Radio Silence at the helm, it looks like that moment has finally arrived.
