How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days Sequel in Development at Paramount

A sequel to the beloved romantic comedy How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is officially being developed at Paramount, with original star Kate Hudson attached as a producer.

The project is still in the early stages, and several major details, including the screenplay and creative team, have yet to be finalized. According to reports, the studio hopes Hudson and Matthew McConaughey could eventually return as Andie Anderson and Benjamin Barry, the couple at the center of the 2003 hit.

The original film followed advice columnist Andie and advertising executive Benjamin as they unknowingly enter into competing relationship schemes. While Andie attempts to drive Benjamin away for a magazine assignment, Benjamin makes a bet that he can get her to fall in love with him. Their increasingly chaotic plans ultimately lead to an unexpected romance.

The movie became a major box-office success, earning nearly $180 million worldwide on a reported $50 million production budget. Over the years, it has also remained a fan favorite and a defining title from the early-2000s romantic comedy era.

Hudson is set to produce the sequel through her Shiny Penny banner alongside producer Stacey Sher. Hudson has continued to expand her career across acting and producing, while McConaughey has largely moved away from traditional romantic comedies in favor of dramatic roles.

No writer has been announced yet, and the sequel does not currently have a release date. Casting will reportedly depend in part on the direction of the eventual screenplay.

For fans of the original, the possibility of seeing Hudson and McConaughey reunite as Andie and Benjamin could make the How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days sequel one of Hollywood’s most anticipated rom-com projects.
