GLAAD, the nation’s leading media advocacy organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender folks, announced today that Brett Ratner has agreed to produce and direct “a groundbreaking video campaign” that will feature “a diverse group of Hollywood celebrities, athletes, musicians and politicians ‘coming out of the closet’ as supporters of equality.” The project represents the latest step in Ratner’s ongoing mea culpa tour, which began last year when the endlessly charming Tower Heist director let slip a gay slur while discussing his plans for helming the Academy Awards telecast. Ratner’s remark triggered an immediate avalanche of ire, which ultimately cost him his Oscars gig. He has spent much of his time since then working to ingratiate himself with Hollywood’s influential LGBT community.
