Stop the presses! Chace Crawford, Gossip Girl‘s prettiest pretty-boy, has been arrested in Plano, Texas for possession of marijuana, according to TMZ. He was busted a little after midnight this morning in the parking lot of a Ringo’s Pub parking lot, just north of Dallas.
Crawford, who has posted bond and is now out of jail, was with a friend when he was caught with an unlit joint and charged with a misdemeanor for possession of marijuana under 2 ounces.
This news, plus Crawford’s seemingly masculine 5-o’clock shadow in his booking photo, should do wonders for the foppish Gossip Girl star’s image — although really, I don’t know if the excruciating minutes of hard jail time that Crawford probably had to endure will undo the memory of his many years of continuous preening and prolonged bro-mancing of co-star Ed Westwick on the popular CW show.
Crawford has been in the news recently for playing a wealthy Upper-East-Side-dwelling drug dealer in Joel Schumacher’s upcoming film Twelve – and thus ‘exploring’ his ‘dark side’ as an actor – although that plot line doesn’t really sound much different than any given episode of Gossip Girl. Still, could this be an instance of life imitating art? Could Crawford have gone too deep into his character, ‘White Mike,’ and never returned?
More importantly, how do you get busted with an unlit joint in a car? This news raises so many unsettling questions! Was Chase Crawford set up? And why Plano, Texas?
