Kate Middleton Is Pregnant, Hospitalized for Morning Sickness, Palace Rep Says

kate middleton pregnantBritish press, rejoice!

Weeks after tabloid covers began speculating that Kate Middleton was pregnant, Buckingham Palace confirmed Monday that the Duchess of Cambridge, 30, and her husband, Prince William, 30, are expecting their first child. “Yes, it is true,” a spokesperson for the royal family tells Hollywood.com. “The Duchess is pregnant.”

While the Duchess is in the early stages of her pregnancy, she’s coping with health setbacks familiar to any expecting mother. The Buckingham Palace confirmed to Hollywood.com that Middleton is currently in the hospital, suffering from “severe morning sickness.” According to a press release obtained by TODAY, the Duchess was admitted to King Edward VII Hospital in Central London with hyperemesis gravidarum Monday and is expected to be held for several more days.

Of course, once Middleton is released from the hospital, we can expect as many celebrations as headlines — Middleton and the prince’s future son or daughter will be the first grandchild for both the royal and Middleton families. And given the coverage that surrounded the nuptials of the royal couple in April 2011, it can only be expected that delivery day festivities will be even more grand.

“[Family is] very important to me you know,” Middleton said during an interview with the UK Press Association in 2010, according to ABC News. “And I hope we will be able to have a happy family ourselves.”
