Today is a sad day for the music world. Thirty-four-year-old Gerard Smith of the indie band TV on the Radio lost his battle with cancer today. He was the founding member of the band, but recently took a leave of absence from touring and promoting the band’s latest album, Nine Types of Light, to cope with his illness. Though Smith has not been accompanying the band on the road, they are suspending their tour for the week, including tonight’s concert, in order to pay their respects to the musician.
He will be greatly missed.
