The Skinny: Banderas trades in his Spy Kids for a role as a widowed FBI agent; Liu exchanges her Angel wings to play his arch nemesis, a mysterious rogue operative. When a new doomsday weapon threatens to fall into evil hands, the two old foes form an uneasy alliance to–what else?–save the world.
The Bottom Line: This flick has the right ingredients for sleeper surprises: two unconventional, exotic leads, slam-bang action and a fresh perspective–it’s the U.S. debut of Thai wunderkind director Kaos (Fha). But after a glut of spy movies, will the film’s secret agents be able to uncover an interested audience?
