2002 Fall Movie Guide — The Banger Sisters

The Banger Sisters

The Players: Goldie Hawn, Susan Sarandon, Geoffrey Rush, Erika Christensen, Eva Amurri (Sarandon‘s real-life daughter); directed by first-timer Bob Dolman.

The Skinny: Twenty years after being one of rock and roll’s best-known groupies, the still wild and hard-partying Suzette (Hawn) loses her job. She seeks solace from her groupie comrade and best friend Lavinia (Sarandon), a now anal-retentive socialite mom who’d rather forget about her wild past.

The Bottom Line: After her daughter Kate Hudson did such a fine job in Almost Famous, now it’s Goldie‘s turn to play the groupie–albeit a little bit older, presumably wiser and definitely darker. Adding Sarandon (who has a knack for finding the best female buddy pictures) into the mix should make this one fun to watch.
