The Core

The Skinny: Geophysicist Dr. Josh Keyes (Eckhart) makes an unhappy discovery–the Earth’s inner core has stopped rotating, causing the planet’s magnetic field to deteriorate and the atmosphere to go haywire. The only way to save the world is to send Keyes and some other scientists to the core in a sub-terrestrial ship piloted by “terranauts” Major Rebecca Beck (Swank) and Colonel Robert Iverson (Greenwood), and detonate a nuclear device that will reactivate the core.
The Bottom Line: Oh boy! We finally get to see the 1959 Journey to the Center of the Earth done as a disaster movie. Come on, folks, this should just be whole lot of fun and what a great way to break up the fall and winter “Oscar” movies.
