The Four Feathers
The Players: Heath Ledger, Wes Bentley, Kate Hudson, Djimon Hounsou; directed by Shekhar Kapur (Elizabeth).
The Skinny: Set in the late 19th century, British officer Harry Faversham (Ledger) resigns his post before he is to ship out to battle in the Sudan. His friends and his fiancée (Hudson) send him four white feathers, symbolizing they believe he is a coward. To redeem his honor he disguises himself as an Arab and secretly saves the lives of those who doubted him. Well, of course he does.
The Bottom Line: We all know Harry must have a very good reason for not going into battle–it simply wouldn’t be right to show an officer being cowardly, especially if he is being played by Ledger. We’ll see if the Aussie hunk can continue to capitalize on that charisma he displayed so well in A Knight’s Tale.
Opens: Sept. 20
