Ashley GreeneThe Jennifer Garner-produced Butter added cast members to the mix this week with two additions in the form of Ashley Greene and Rob Corddry. The duo join Garner, Kate Hudson and Ty Burell in the film about an annual butter-carving contest that’s based on a screenplay by Jason Micallef which landed on the Black List of Hollywood’s best unproduced scripts. Butter will get churning this month in Louisiana. Meanwhile, Garner is also reportedly talking to producers about taking a key role in Ron Howard’s film about cheating. The Los Angeles Times reported that the actress could join the film which already has Kevin James and Vince Vaughn starring. Also this week, Deadline.com reported that Winona Ryder has joined the cast.

Anton Yelchin

Ryder’s last big bigscreen appearance was in Star Trek playing mother to Zachary Quinto’s Spock. Also in that film, Anton Yelchin had the role of Chekov. Yelchin this week was said to be in talks to play the lead in DreamWorks’ remake of horror film Fright Night. Variety reported that the Craig Gillespie-directed film would have Yelchin play Charley Brewster, a teen who discovers that his neighbor is a vampire.

Taylor Kitsch

Moving on from Fright Night to Friday Night Lights now, one of the stars of the beloved TV series, Taylor Kitsch, made headlines this week when it was reported that he would star in Universal’s adaptation of the board game Battleship. The Heat Vision blog said Kitsch will play a Naval commander named Alex Hopper, described as “wildly spirited” and “a great seaman but a lousy politician.”
Peter Berg is directing. Making the announcement himself, Tom Arnold told MovieLine (in the comments section no less) that he was also cast in the film which is set to start shooting in August.
