Why We Loved It So Much: The idea that a show as vapid as The Hills could actually incubate a meaningful, marriage-bound relationship kind of warmed our hearts. Plus, the thought of the plastic-y blonde duo committing to a life of wedded bliss kind of fulfilled our childhood Barbie and Ken, happily-ever-after fantasies — in a masochistic way.
Now, Not So Much: After the couple’s heavily photographed and marriage license-free (read: null and void) November elopement in Mexico, we’re rolling-our-eyes over this perpetual publicity stunt. Furthermore, making every detail of the wedding schedule public knowledge — Westminster Presbyterian Church in Pasadena at 4PM on Apr. 25, followed by a reception at Cut Steakhouse in Beverly Hills (shame on delicious Cut for hosting such a sham) — essentially equates to an open wedding invitation to the general public. RSVPs? Moot. Will Heidi and Spencer’s costars … er, friends show? Brody Jenner told Access Hollywood that he “… wanted to go to it … but it may not happen.” Spencer’s sister and presumed bridesmaid Stephanie is similarly unconvinced, saying, “I don’t know if it’s this weekend. I hope it happens, but they keep changing their minds and I can’t keep up.” Whatever. They don’t want to go! They’re thinking what we’re all thinking: Heidi and Spencer, you’re ridiculous.
