Her Current Gig: Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve on ABC. Solange will take the stage in Hollywood for the bi-coastal special hosted by Ryan Seacrest. Other performers include stars like the Jonas Brothers, Fergie, will.i.am and Kellie Pickler.
You Know This Face … She’s Beyonce’s lil sis, who started out at just 14 by filling in for Kelly Rowland on a Destiny’s Child tour and released her debut album Solo Star two years later.
Why So Fresh? After taking a break for a few years, Solange, 22, is back in the action. She gives the sounds of the ‘60s and ‘70s her own flair on her latest album Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams. Her star is on the rise with a UK tour, a series of mixed tapes supporting her record and her latest New Year’s gig with Ryan Seacrest.
In Her Own Words … “I think that as artists [Beyonce and I] are totally different,” she tells Essence magazine. “But I admire my sister so much. She’s one of my role models in that she is successful and classy. She’s very diplomatic and lives her life true to self…I don’t want to get that far [in my stardom]. I feel really bad for my sister. I’m always like, ‘Oh, let’s go to the mall’ or ‘Let’s go here’ and she can’t. I enjoy having that.”
