Friday: ‘Movie Rocks! A Celebration of Music & Film’

Get used to it, TV fanatics–this (and reality shows) is the future of television if the writers strike continues beyond your favorite shows’ pre-strike stockpiled scripts.

Of course, we could do a lot worse than Movies Rock, which celebrates music’s “pivotal” role in movies.

Movies Rock was launched in November as a supplement to magazines like The New Yorker and Vanity Fair–and as a print promotion for this A-list-heavy concert.

Case in point: Marc Anthony, Tony Bennett, Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Chris Brown, Fergie, Jennifer Hudson, Elton John, Queen Latifah, John Legend, Nelly, LeAnn Rimes, Carrie Underwood, Usher, will.i.am and movie composer John Williams are all slated to perform.

Good luck topping that list, Grammys!

[IMG:R]Frosty the Snowman — 8/7c on CBS
Frosty caps off a week of so many Christmas-themed specials (Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Santa Claus Is Coming to Town, A Charlie Brown Christmas) that we’re tired of X-mas almost three weeks before the actual holiday. Good thing CBS gets ‘em out of the way extremely early, giving us time to get back in the spirit. Weary or not, Frosty–and its 1995 John Goodman-voiced “sequel,” Frosty Returns, airing immediately following the original–is a must-re-watch.

[IMG:L]Monk — 9/8c on USA
Adrian Monk (Tony Shalhoub) has Christmas spirit too, you know. Perhaps too much in this episode, though, as he shoots Santa!
