Open Season is the hilarious CGI-animated comedy about a 900-pound domesticated grizzly bear named Boog (voice of Martin Lawrence), who, with no survival skills, has his perfect world turned upside-down when he meets Elliot (voice of Ashton Kutcher), a scrawny, fast-talking wild mule deer. When Elliot convinces Boog to desert his idyllic existence living in a garage decked out with all the comforts of home, and try the “wild” life, things quickly spiral out of control. Westerberg, the creative force behind one of the most influential rock bands of the 1980s, The Replacements, created a template that would later be adapted by such diverse rockers as Nirvana and Ryan Adams, among numerous others. A solo artist since 1991, Westerberg has now extended his considerable talents to movie soundtracks with Open Season contributing over half the tracks.
